Inspired by Rulebreakers
The hair is inspired by a play on blending the lines of dressing in gender norms and conforming to gender ideals.
It started with the book “Casa Susanna,” which documents a group of cross-dressers who visited the Casa Susanna Retreat upstate NY during the late 50’s into the 60’s, as well as the timeless rebel style from Karlheinz Weinberger and John Hoppy Hopkins rockers.

Elegance With Grit
Distilling the inspiration into a look that exudes refined toughness, modern grit, and innocent rebellion.

Get The Look
A modern take on the Teddy boy look.
1 Start by sectioning out the top square section on the head and adding Texture Dust from roots to ends.
2 Elevate the hair at 90 degrees and secure with a rubber band 4 inches from the base, twist down while pushing forward, and secure with 2 bobby pins. Then add Texture Dust throughout the back roots to mids.
3 Take vertical sections on the sides and direct back with hairspray and a wide-tooth comb, working our way towards the front.
4 Finish. The hair is pulled back and pinned into an upside-down twist with the excess hair directed down. Texture Dust gives us grip for the pins without the need to back-comb.
Solid Oil is added to the ends for separation.
